Tesla Cybertruck has 146,000 ‘Orders’ already
The Tesla Cybertruck, an electric Pick-up revealed a few days ago, has already garnered 146,000 ‘orders’, most for the most powerful versions.
The reveal of the Tesla Cybertruck in Los Angeles a few days ago saw Tesla reveal a pick-up like no other, with futuristic wedge styling, stainless steel bodywork, shatterproof glass (although the glass did shatter at the launch demo) and a range of power options delivering enormous performance potential.Just as they did when the Tesla Model 3 was launched, Tesla decided potential buyers could immediately put down a deposit for the Cybertruck despite it being unlikely to arrive for at least another couple of years.
Unlike the Model 3, which required a $1,000 deposit, Tesla only want a $100 deposit for the Cybertruck and, although not quite reaching the heights of the Model 3’s 250,000 deposits in 48 hours, the Tesla Cybertruck has garnered 146,000 deposits in a similar timescale. Which is quite remarkable.
Of those deposits received so far (and it’ll be more by now) it seems just 17 per cent of potential buyers have opted for the entry-level single motor version, with 42 per cent going for the mid-range twin-motor version and 41 per cent for the bonkers tri-motor model offering a range of 500 miles and 0-62mph in under 3.0 seconds.
Unsurprisingly, Musk announced the figures on Twitter, and couldn’t resist pointing out that the deposits have flooded in despite no advertising or paid endorsements (and despite that shattered glass):
