The Bugatti Chiron – Bugatti’s replacement for the Veyron – is teased again as Bugatti send out their festive greetings to the car world.
The Bugatti Veyron’s replacement has been speculated on for some time, and we finally had confirmation in November that it will be the Bugatti Chiron, a name chosen to commemorate Louis Chiron – Bugatti’s most successful racing driver.
The Chiron will make its public debut at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show in March – although we’re likely to get an on-line reveal before then – so, with a new model to promote, Bugatti has decided to turn their 2016 Christmas card in to a tease for their new baby.
The tease amounts to nothing more than an image of the Chiron under a cover, but from what little we can discern it seems the Chiron will not stray too far from the Veyron in looks, as also previewed by Bugatti’s current Gran Turismo Concept.
What will be lurking under the skin of the new Bugatti still hasn’t been revealed, although the money is on the 8.0 litre W12 remaining – perhaps with some electrical help – delivering approaching 1500bhp, with a top speed very close to 300mph and 0-62mph in about 2.3 seconds.
Not only will the Chiron be more powerful than the Veyron, it looks set to be more successful.
It took Bugatti a decade to shift the 450 Veyrons they built, but if they’re to be believed they already have 100 orders for the Chiron, a car we’re expecting will have a 500 unit run.
