Alfa Romeo are promoting their congestion charge busting Alfa MiTo 1.3 JTDM-2 85bhp with an ‘Art Car’ painted by Louise Dear.

Alfa Romeo are pushing quite a few PR buttons with the congestion charge busting Alfa MiTo 1.3 JTDM-2 85bhp, the latest of which is the ‘Art Car’ in the photo above.

Recently, we had Alfa pitting the MiTo 1.3 JTDM-2 85bhp in a race around London against an athlete. On the face of it that race was to promote UK Athletics (sponsored by Alfa Romeo) but a big part, and the reason for the ‘London’ angle, is that the latest MiTo emits just 95g/km – the perfect London car.

Now we’re treated to a work of art with the eco-MiTo as the canvas. Alfa has laid it on a bit thick with the assertion that they picked artist Louise Dear to adorn the new Mito as her “… typically young and exciting style, which combine classic beauty with unique design; characteristics shared with Alfa Romeo’s sporty compact MiTo model”.

Still, Louise has managed to create an ‘Art Car’ Alfa will be chuffed with, incorporating as it does elements of the Alfa Romeo logo and Alfa’s Cloverleaf. And Louise seems quite taken with the MiTo and the concept. She said:

I really wanted to capture Alfa Romeo’s heritage and elegance within my creation, while bringing out the stylish and fashionable aspects of the Alfa MiTo.
The Alfa MiTo is targeted at a young, stylish audience who have a positive attitude to life, and are focussed on being successful, and within my painting I have tried to bring this across using a combination of designs that convey powerful imagery mixed with elegance and beauty.

Now the job is done, the Alfa MiTo with the florally paint job will be doing a UK tour, visiting galleries across the UK. On the list already is Birmingham’s Mailbox, Norwich Chapelfield and Cardiff Bay.
