Audi appear to be planning a rufty-tufty version of the A1 for 2013. But will it be an Audi A1 Allroad or an Audi Q1.
It’s probably a completely daft question: are Audi considering making an Allroad version of the A1? Do bears…? The answer has to be that as Audi are intent on out doing the MINI on all fronts – which means as many variations on a theme as you can shake a stick at – there is no chance of them missing out on a rufty-tufty version of some description.
You also have to remember that MINI are about to deliver the butched-up, pumped up and all wheel drive MINI Countryman, and whatever MINI can do you can be pretty sure Audi will want to do with the A1.
So it seems clear that Audi will go the butch route with the A1, but will that be an A1 Allroad or an Audi Q1. We already have the Audi Q3 in the works and is based on the Audi Cross Coupe (pictured above) from a few years ago. Audi are already well advanced with plans for the Q3 to be built at the SEAT plant in Martorell in Spain.
Based on the A3 the Q3 should see the light of day next year (2011) and it’s reported that Audi are planning either the Allroad or the Q1 for 2013.
Seems a very safe bet to us.
