Audi e-tron Electric SUV gets UK debut today
The new Audi e-tron electric SUV gets its UK debut today – 19 October 2018 – in Milton Keynes, home to Audi in the UK.
Unlike the Jaguar I-Pace, the Audi e-tron has rather traditional Audi SUV styling as Audi seek to keep existing Audi buyers on-board in a new age of electric cars, but it does come with all you’d expect from the latest crop of current Premium electric SUVs.
That means a pair of electric motors – one on each axle – delivering 356bhp (and a boost to 402bhp for quick bursts) which is enough for 0-62mph in under 6.0 seconds and a range of around 250 miles. It also comes equipped to use 150 kW DC charging which, when available in the UK, will let you refuel the e-tron to 80 per cent in half an hour.
Officially, the e-tron doesn’t go on sale until spring 2019, although you can join in the craze for electric car pre-orders by putting down a £1,000 deposit (you can do it here) for the e-tron now if you want a jump on more conservative buyers.
Now, Audi is giving the e-tron its UK debut, and it’s decided the perfect place is at the Electric Vehicle Experience Centre (EVEC) in centre:mk, Milton Keynes’ shopping hub and right on the doorstep of Audi’s UK head office.
One you’ve navigated Milton Keynes’ endless roundabouts, straight roads and concrete cows, you’ll be able to get up close to the e-tron for three days from today (19-21 October 2018) at the EVEC, which is a brand-neutral centre for EVs and Plug-ins with ‘EV Gurus’ on hand to offer impartial advice and answer questions.
Although we’re pretty sure they’ll be rather positive about the new Audi e-tron SUV.
