The Audi e-tron can now be secured online in the UK
As the Audi e-tron quattro electric SUV continues its awareness blitz at the Geneva Motor Show, Audi announce it is now taking deposits for their first electric vehicle.
Audi has been out in force at the Geneva Motor Show with their e-tron quattro prototypes, not only running them round the streets of Geneva, but also sticking one front and centre on their stand. It’s clear the motivation for taking prototypes of the e-tron to Geneva is to try and put a fly in the ointment of Jaguar’s coup of getting their i-Pace to market ahead of them, hoping, no doubt, that potential buyers of a premium electric SV will pause for thought and consider the Audi may be a better bet.
It’s a move that could make potential buyers pause for thought, because although the new e-tron from Audi seems to be promising much the same as Jaguar’s i-Pace, Audi has chose to wrap their new EV in a much more conventional SUV shape than Jaguar has. So maybe they’re hoping more conventionally minded buyers may decide to wait and see the Audi in the flesh before deciding?
The final pieced of Audi’s spoiler plan – now the new Jaguar i-Pace has gone on sale – is to open up orders for the e-tron to make buyers feel like they can make a conscious decision right now to opt for Audi’s more conventional car.
But actually, even though Audi has announced only toady that the e-tron can be ordered, they have actually been taking deposits for the e-tron in Norway – probably the most EV oriented country in the world – for almost a year.
Still, if you want to be at the front of the queue for an Audi e-tron, you can now place a (Refundable) €1,000 deposit at any UK Audi dealer or online at Audi’s new e-tron quattro page.
Audi say that if you do get your plastic out and put down a deposit, you’ll be at the front of the queue for the e-tron, be notified as soon as UK prices are announced to confirmed to so you can place your order, get regular updates and invitations to events.
We have to say, Audi really are trying hard to spoil the i-Pace party.
