Audi R8 Competition – the most powerful production Audi EVER

The Audi R8 Competition has been revealed as a limited edition R8 for the USA with cosmetic updates and more power as the current R8 comes to the end of its life.

It’s not going to be too long before the current Audi R8 bows ot, and what better way to do so than with the most powerful R8 yet – the R8 Competition?

Not only is the R8 Competition the most powerful R8 we’ve seen, it’s also the fastest production car Audi has ever built thanks to 562bhp from its 5.2 litre V10, enough to get to 62mph in 3.2 seconds and on to 199mph.

Just 60 examples will be made of the R8 Competition – all bound for the USA after a debut at next month’s Los Angeles Auto Show – and will get the seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox and ceramic brakes to add to the extra power.

Audi has also bestowed a few inspirational bits from the R8 LMS with matt carbon fibre for the spoilers, mirrors, side blades and rear diffuser and high gloss black for the wheels and tail pipes. Inside sees carbon fibre on the centre console and ‘R8 Competition’ sill plates.

Beyond the basics, Audi want buyers to spec their R8 Competition up to their taste, so it will be sold through Audi Exclusive so deep-pocketed buyers can indulge every whim they have.

The R8 Competition may be a US only car, but we can’t see Audi missing the opportunity to do something similar for Europe ahead of the current R8 ending its run.
