Audi RS4 Avant gets an RS6 looks makeover
The Audi RS4 Avant, which only launched in the UK in 2017, gets a bit of a facelift for 2019, bringing RS6 Avant looks and other minor updates.
It’s only two years since the new Audi RS4 Avant arrived as Audi delivered their hot, relatively compact, estate car to the market. And it’s a very appealing estate car.It follows on from the refresh of its lesser siblings – the A4 and S4 – in late spring, designed to keep the A4 competitive and appealing against the newer BMW 3 Series, and this, rather minor, facelift for the RS4 concentrates on its looks.
The outgoing RS4 wasn’t particularly in-yer-face and aggressive, but the facelifted version does drive further down that road with its ambition to look like a shrunken take on its bigger sibling – the latest RS6 Avant.
That means a completely overhauled front end with a new bumper and splitter as well as a new front grille, complete with the latest RS frameless honeycomb design, tweaked LED headlights, as well as big wheel arches.
There are minor changes inside too, with the new RS4 coming with Audi’s latest 10.1″ MMI touch infotainment with RS-specific displays.
Under the bonnet its still the same 2.9 litre V6 with 444bhp and 443lb/ft of torque, enough to take the appealing RS4 estate to 62mph in 4.1 seconds and on to 174mph.
Sales of the updated Audi RS4 Avant will start this month, although Audi doesn’t seem to have come up with UK prices yet.
