Audi has a new concierge service for owners of their first electric car – the Audi e-tron SUV – providing instant answers to questions on WhatsApp.
It still feels like a brave move to give up an ICE car, with all its familiar ways, and dive headlong in to electrification with a full electric car.
It shouldn’t, because driving an electric car is really little different to driving an ICE car, and in many ways it’s more enjoyable, especially in congested traffic. Assuming you could ever find driving in congested traffic enjoyable.
In an ideal world, makers of electric cars would have a hotline service for prospective owners, delivering sensible answers to a raft of questions about the ins and outs of running an EV, helping change mindsets about the practicalities and benefits of EVs in the process.
But that role is really played by dealers who, you would hope, have staff who can answer those questions with a depth of knowledge and experience that will help prospective buyers make the change to EVs seamless and reassuring.
But what about once you’ve taken that plunge, and the dealer has no real incentive to hold your hand? Well, Audi has the answer with their new Concierge service for e-tron owners.
Audi is inviting every owner of an e-tron to join their new WhatsApp service for owners, where owners can start a chat on any question they have about their e-tron, and receive a response, within minutes promise Audi, from a specially trained EV expert (between 8am and 9pm).
Audi UK Director Andrew Doyle said:
We fully understand that making the transition to a fully electric car can potentially give rise to new questions that may not have been considered before, and therefore an appropriately user-focused option was required.
We also know that our e-tron customers are always switched on and appreciate the added convenience its many digital services such as Amazon Alexa, natural language voice control and the myAudi app already offer, which is why the e-tron Concierge is an ideal extension of that hassle-free approach to communication outside of the car.
So if you have an e-tron, and want a bit of WhatsApp help direct from Audi, drop them an email at email@example.com and get signed up.
