Chris Evans’ LaFerrari charity drives at Top Gear track (video)

Chris Evans is the owner of the first LaFerrari in the UK, and he’s used it to raise money for charity with £1,000 drives at the Top Gear test track.

There are two sorts of car collectors in the world, those who buy rare and classic cars as investments that are kept locked away in climate-controlled garages, and those who use them and, in rare cases, share them. Chris Evans definitely falls in to the latter camp.

As the first UK owner of the LaFerrari supercar, Chris Evans has added Maranello’s latest and finest to a car collection that ranges from the sublime to the even more sublime. And, just as he does with his rare Ferraris – when he auctions their use for BBC Children in Need – Chris has already put his LaFerrari to work to do good.

He managed to extract £1,000 off each of five drivers desperate to get behind the wheel of a LaFerrari, and let them loose with it (with Chris in the passenger seat) at the Top Gear track at Dunsfold.

Of course, it gave Chris a chance to see just how quick his LaFerrari is when it’s not hampered by speed limits and speed bumps, but it’s a magnanimous gesture from a man who’s a true petrolhead and loves to share his luck in life.

And raise a few bob in the process.
