The Citroen Nouveau has turned in to the Citroen Revolte Concept. Could this be the new 2CV?
So, the tease we had last week on the Citroen Nouveau C3, which we saw an update of with another picture a few days ago, has a name – Citroen Revolte. That’s not Citroen ‘Revolting’, as you native English speakers may initially conclude, but Citroen ‘Revolution’. Ah, back to the nuance of language, only it’s revolting this time instead of Naff as it was on the original Citroen tease.
It’s looking increasingly likely that this new Citroen will revive the 2CV moniker. But that referred to ‘Two Steam Horses’, so unless this is one very eco car powered by a rubber band and a clockwork mechanism I guess the name will be there for nostalgic reasons rather than denoting anything specific.
Actually, this Citroen Revolte looks more appropriate as an extension of the DS3 idea rather than the new C3. It enjoys some swoopy lines – which are a little reminiscent of the old 2CV – but it looks more premium than the rather prosaic C3.
But this is obviously just a concept at this point, and sports the usual concept flights of fancy. The interior is very ‘Designed’ and the car features suicide doors and huge wheels with Michelin tyres fitted.
It’s all speculation. The 2CV moniker may not even be under consideration, and this could turn out to be any niche filling version of the C3 or DS3 you can conceive.
We should know more next week.
