Eagle E-Types have built the 1000kg Eagle E-Type Lightweight Speedster which will debut at this year’s Salon Prive, and can do 0-60mph in under 5 seconds.
Two years ago Eagle, makers of the sort of E-Type Jaguar engineers would have given up at least a limb each to be able to build, took to Salon Prive the Eagle E-Type Speedster.
For many – me included – it was at the very top of the heap most desirable cars at Salon Prive. And praise comes no higher. Blimey, even the light of my life thought it stunning.
Two years on the guys at Eagle E-Types have gone one better and developed a Lightweight version of that car – the Eagle E-Type Lightweight Speedster – which is Dr Rick’s car with all the superfluous weight taken out, and designed to be reminiscent of the Lightweight E-Types built in 1963 for Jaguar to go racing.
Weighing in at just 1000kg, the Lightweight Speedster has a gloriously sculpted Speedster body hiding a Lightweight E-Type based aluminium 4.7 litre fuel injected engine and aluminium drivetrain. The engine looks exactly like the original (if you ignore the fuel injection) and yet delivers the Speedster a power-to-weight ratio the equal of a 911 Turbo.
That means this glorious E-Type Speedster can hit 60mph in the same sort of time as modern Jaguar XKR and go faster – 160mph. It may only have 340bhp, but in terms of bhp per ton it’s more than the equal of any modern Jaguar.
And I want one. Badly.

It does make you wonder why Jaguar aren’t able to make something similar though…….

How much is the Lightweight speedster? No, never mind. However much it is it couldn’t be too much for automotive perfection.
