Electric Audi R8 – Electricity Untamed +Video

The rumour of an electric Audi R8 has been floating around the rumour-mill for months. We first reported the possibility back in May, and the rumour surfaced again in July, this time with the Audi R8 ePerfomance moniker attached to it.

Wishful thinking? Well, we thought there was certainly an element of that. But now we know for sure that Audi are planning on bringing something Electric and powerful to the Frankfurt Motor Show after they launched a new website teasing the power of electricity.

And how did we know they’d launched a new website? Interestingly, instead of sending out a press release it looks like Audi decided to pay visits to Cars UK from their site so it showed on our server log. Not just from the UK, but from the US and Germany too. Subtle. eh?

So what does the site say. It really just has a series of ‘Electricity Facts’ running through the screen. It tells us that electricity got ‘Stuck in Toothbrushes and Coffee Makers’ but that on 15th September it will ‘Run Wild & Free and Untamed‘.

Have a look at the Audi Electric Untamed Site and see for yourself. There are also a set of ‘Electricity’ Videos to view.

What do you reckon. Electric Audi R8 or something more prosaic?

R8. Its got to be the electric R8. Otherwise BMW will take all the glory with the Vision electric car. Mercedes has got the SLS electric as well. So R8 eletric. Definitely.
Leave the little electric stuff to people like Hyundai.

It could be the electric Audi A2. It couldnt be worse than the original Audi A2 which is probably the biggest faiulre in Audis recent history. It would seem a waste of resources to make an electric Audi R8. An already elitist car it would make much more sense to produce a peoples electric car.
But looking ta the electricity untamed site I agree it does look like an electric R8. But all Audis look the same, especially as someone has used a poinillism filter on their concept drawing.
