First look at the Genesis G90
We have the first images of the new Genesis G90, the flagship model for Hyundai’s new Genesis brand, ahead of its debut in South Korea in December.
Hyundai finally confirmed the launch of its Genesis luxury brand – a rival for Lexus and the German premium brands – last week, and now we get the first look at what will be the brand’s flagship – the Genesis G90.The G90 looks to be the production version of the Hyundai Vision G Concept we saw at Pebble Beach in the summer, and its arrival will also see Hyundai phase out its own range-topping Equus model as the focus for luxury motoring moves to the Genesis brand.
Hyundai say the G90’s design language is “Athletic Elegance” and previews the brand’s design intent as it moves to roll out six new Genesis cars in the next few years, and the G90 makes its presence felt with a bold grill, topped by the new Genesis winged emblem and flanked by imposing headlights, a long bonnet, coupe silhouette, and a bold character line down the side to the wraparound tail lights.
Woong-Chul Yang, Head of Hyundai Motor R&D. said:
Genesis’ new large luxury sedan G90 will deliver a concept of ‘New Luxury’ to our customers. The G90 sits at the pinnacle of the Genesis brand and demonstrates how we apply our human-centered values to give our customer true satisfaction in every aspect of the vehicle ownership experience.
The G90 goes on sale in South Korea in December, and will eventually be joined by a G80 (which we assume will take the place of the Hyundai Genesis), a smaller G70, a crossover and a large SUV.
