The new Ford Fiesta ST200 will costs from £22,745 in the UK, £5k more than the regular ST, with UK orders now open and first deliveries in July.
The Ford Fiesta ST200 was revealed at the Geneva Motor Show a couple of months ago, and although it’s no Fiesta RS, it still offers more power and a thorough makeover of the regular ST, but the price of the ST200 is quite strong – £22,745.In fact, if you just want an easy off-the-peg power upgrade for the ST, you’d be a lot better off buying an ST3 for £19,745 and spending £600 with Mountune for an ST power boost (and keep your Ford warranty intact).
They’ll fettle your ST to deliver 212bhp and 236lb/ft of torque – figures that are only matched by the ST200 on overboost – and mean your Mountune ST will get to 62mph in 6.4 seconds, 0.3s quicker than the ST200, and save you the best part of £2.5k.
But to be fair to Ford, the ST200 isn’t just about boosting power, but is a more thorough makeover of the ST, so if that floats your boat then the price shouldn’t be an issue.
The ST200 enhancements include a power boost to 197bhp and 214lb/ft (with a 15s overboost delivering the same figures as the Mountune ST), shorter final drive, Torque Vectoring, a three-stage ESC, modified suspension, new damper settings, beefier brakes and quicker steering. So you can see where the money went.
Cosmetic tweaks for the ST200 include a new paint job – Storm Grey – a set of 17″ Matt Black Alloys, red brake callipers and part-leather Recaros with silver stitching.
Joe Bakaj, Product Development VP, said:
The Fiesta ST is truly beloved by owners and critics. The ST200 takes this special drivers’ car to a new level of power and performance.
We think it’s a future classic in the making.
With limited production and the raft of improvements, Bakaj may well be right, and if you want to grab an ST200 Ford’s UK dealers are now taking orders, and first customer cars should arrive next month (July 2016).
