Ford Focus ST finds the GREATEST Driving road in Europe
Ford is on a mission to drive the greatest driving roads in Europe with its current range, and has found the best so far in the Parque Natural do Alvão in Portugal.
There are roads, and then there are ‘driving’ roads, roads with a perfect combination of straights and turns, stunning scenery and great surfaces. And Ford is on a mission to drive the greatest in Europe. So far Ford has managed to highlight outings for its current range of cars on roads across Europe, and some of them have been real crackers.
Top Gear’s favourite Transfagarasan Road in the Carpathian Mountains was the setting for Ford’s outing for the Mustang, with other outings including the Focus RS on Blakey Ridge, North Yorkshire, the Bullitt on the Isle of Man and the Fiesta ST in Catalonia.
All are great roads, but now Ford thinks they’ve found the best (so far) with an outing in the Focus ST to Portugal’s Parque Natural do Alvão.
Nestling in the quiet bit of northern Portugal not usually visited by Brits, the N304 winds its way beguilingly through stunning scenery with rhythmic bends and a perfect road surface (thank you EU), surrounded by the most stunning views.
Add to that the fact that the N304 is barely used – Ford say they saw only around 20 other cars in three days of filming – and that there are good quality inexpensive hotels and great food too saw Ford score the outing at 57/60, the highest rating on the Europe’s Greatest Driving Roads series so far, just behind the Isle of Man outing.
