Ford Transit Custom Nugget (it’s a Camper Van) goes on sale in the UK

The Ford Transit Custom Nugget Camper Van goes on sale in the Uk with prices starting from £56,273 as Ford cashes in on the growing Campervan market.

Apparently, there’s a growing market for Camper Vans in Europe, and Ford is joining the fray with the Transit-based Ford Transit Custom Nugget, the Blue Oval’s answer to the VW California.

Costing from £56,273, the Transit Custom Nugget (who came up with that name?) is, as you suspected, based on the Ford Transit Custom and converted to a Camper Van by Ford’s tame Camper Van specialists Westfalia.

It gets all the latest improvements offered in the new Transit Custom, including Ford’s SYNC 3, but with added Camper Van goodness for up to four travellers to sleep.

The Nugget sleeps up to four in a double bed in the pop-up roof and another in the living area, with a three-room layout with an L-shaped kitchen at the back, living area in the middle and that double bed in the tilting roof.

Wood flooring goes throughout the Van, there’s auxiliary heating to keep you toasty at night, a double-burner gas cooker, sink, fridge, on-board water tanks and an outdoor shower.

Power comes from Ford’s 2.0 litre EcoBlue diesel with 128bhp or 182bhp, with either six-speed manual or six-speed SelectShift auto, as well as stuff like Cross Traffic Alert, Pre-Collision Assist, Rear-View Camera and Adaptive Cruise, and a Wifi hotspot for up to 10 devices.
