Land Rover is debuting a Limited Edition version of the new Freelander 2 with the more powerful 190PS engine – the Land Rover Freelander 2 SD4 Limited Edition
It may be only two minutes (well, four months) since Land Rover revealed the 2011 updates for the Freelander 2, but we’re already getting a Limited Edition version of the latest Freelander SD4 – the Land Rover Freelander 2 SD4 Sport – which is not to be confused with the Freelander 2 Sport we got this time last year. Except the name. And the fact it’s a limited edition.
In fact, this latest Freelander 2 Sport is a very sensible limited edition now Land Rover has squeezed some extra horses out of the ubiquitous 2.2 litre diesel to give the Freelander 2 SD4 decent performance. Not exactly hair-on-fire performance, admittedly, but a 0-60mph of 8.7 seconds is on a par with the latest Range Rover Sport with the very good 3.0 litre diesel, so the Freelander SD4 Sport makes proper sense.
So what has Land Rover done to the Freelander 2 SD4 to make it look sportier? Well, the exterior gets black finished grill and side vents and there’s a new body styling pack which offers cleaner profiling to the front corners. There’s a rear spoiler and some 19″ Shadow Chrome alloys together with body coloured door handles and mirror backs. There’s a choice of three colours for the SD4 Sport – Fuji White, Santorini Black or the all-new Firenze Red.
Inside the SD4 Sport you get Ebony Windsor leather with contrasting Pimento stitch or Ebony Napoli leather with matching contrast Windsor leather highlight stripe on the seats. Piano black gets used for the facia finisher and you get ebony mats with either ivory or pimento edging.
The Freelander 2 SD4 Sport is limited to 500 cars in the UK at £33,945, and it’s on sale from early New Year.
