Is this a 500bhp ELECTRIC Audi E-Tron ‘S’ testing at the Nurburgring?

We have video of what appears to be a more powerful version of the electric Audi E-Tron, perhaps previewing an upcoming Audi E-Tron ‘S’.

The electric Audi E-Tron is Audi’s first electric car of a wave of EVs expected to hit showrooms in the next few years from Audi, and was previewed initially by the Audi e-tron Quattro Concept back in 2015.

That e-tron Quattro Concept was actually somewhat more powerful than the production E-Tron, sporting a trio of motors,rather than the two in the current production car, and almost 100bhp more at its disposal.

So we wonder if this Audi E-Tron spotted blatting round the Nurburgring is a first look at a more powerful E-Tron – perhaps the E-Tron S – as Audi plan a more powerful E-Tron to sit above the current model, and one which gets closer the the Tesla Model S in power.

There are subtle differences between this E-Tron and the production version, like bigger wheels and tyres, new diffuser and slightly different front bumper, and there’s a lot of sense in offering a more powerful version, in the same way there’s also now a cheaper E-Tron in the the Audi e-tron 50.

If this is a new version of the E-Tron, we could see it coming with the three motor setup of the concept for better handling and power, and a 0-62mph cut by around 1.0 seconds thanks to the additional 100bhp.

And see it as an offering in the upcoming E-Tron Sportback too.
