Jaguar XK66 is Germany's farewell to the XK

The Jaguar XK ends production this summer and Germany is getting the Special Edition Jaguar XK66 as a farewell model.

We know that Jaguar is ending production of the XK this summer, and the UK already has its run-out special editions in the guise of the Jaguar XK Signature and XK Dynamic R. And now it’s the turn of Germany to get a goodbye XK.

The Jaguar XK66 is a limited run XK – just 66 are being built – with the ’66’ moniker referring to the 66 years since the introduction of the XK’s earliest direct ancestor – the Jaguar XK120.

Unlike the UK, Germany is getting just the single run-out model with the XK66, but as either a convertible or Coupe and with the normally aspirated 385bhp 5.0 litre V8 and in a choice of just two original XK120 colours – British Racing Green or Stratus.

Cosmetic tweaks – apart from the historic colours – include ‘XK66’ badges on the boot and below the side intake, chrome covered door mirrors, Union Jack emblems on the wheels, 20″ alloys and a black or beige roof on the convertible.

Interior tweaks are a choice of Caramel leather with black stitching or Black leather with Ivory stitching, an ‘XK66 One of 66’ commemorative plaque, Burr Walnut trim and aluminium flappy paddles.

In the UK, the XK Signature costs £54,950 for the Coupe and £60,950 for the Convertible, but Jaguar want German buyers to stump up €99,380 (£83k) for the XK66 Coupe and €107,580 (£90k) for the XK66 Convertible.

Which does seem a bit strong.
