The Kia 4-Door Concept has been revealed as the Kia GT, a swoopy, 4-door coupe with a V8 engine and heading to be Kia’s star of Frankfurt 2011.
We proclaimed the Kia 4-door Concept, revealed last month, as the arrival of Kia as a credible maker of cars other than eco-boxes. And so it is, with the arrival of the real deal – the Kia GT.
The Kia GT has been revealed ahead of Frankfurt, and it looks every bit as good as the promise in the original teaser image we saw of the then Kia 4-door Concept.
We have lots of photos of the GT but we’re still very short on detail. All we really know is that the GT has a V8 engine and is rear wheel drive. Do we need to know more? Yes, but that’s more than enough to grab our attention.
The flowing lines of the GT are both contemporary and convincing. There’s a remarkably sure hand in the GT’s flowing lines which manage to convey a sleekness and aggression.
The interior is, as is to be expected, quite concept-y, but it’s not hard to see how little it would need to change to be a production version.
If the Kia GT goes in to production – and it really should – we’re sure it will come with a few different powertrain options including a hybrid.
But the GT Concept sports a V8, a V8 that is almost certainly the 425bhp V8 Hyundai fit to the Hyundai Genesis R-Spec and looks likely to offer more performance than the laid-back Genesis.
More on the Kia GT as Frankfurt arrives.
