The Kia Rio GT-Line has been revealed ahead of a Geneva Motor Show debut as the latest addition to Kia’s range of GT-Line models. On sale spring 2018.
Kia has been busy rolling out GT-Line models of late to add a bit of a sporty edge to their mainstream models, and the latest to get the GT-Line treatment is the Kia Rio.
The Kia Rio GT-Line joins the Sportage GT-Line, Picanto GT-Line and Sorento GT-Line as Kia appeals to buyers who want a bit of added aggression in their cars, with much the same makeover as the rest of the GT-Line range.
That means a gloss black and chrome look for the Tiger grille, 17″ alloys, Kia’s ‘Ice Cube’ LED Fogs, twin exhaust pipes, LED running lights, chrome window trim and black spoiler and sills.
Inside gets black synthetic leather and cloth trim with contrast grey stitching, a new ‘D-Cut’ steering wheel, metallic surrounds for the door switches and gear lever and a carbon-fibre effect for the dash.
Under the bonnet is Kia’s 1.0 litre T-GDI three-pot engine with 118bhp and official economy of 60.1mpg, and later in 2018 you’ll be able to opt for the 1.25 or 1.4 litre petrol engines and Kia’s seven-speed double-clutch gearbox.
Michael Cole, Kia’s European COO, said:
The Rio is one of Kia’s best selling cars globally, and we have already sold more than 54,000 units of the new model in Europe after it went on sale in the first quarter of 2017.
The new GT-Line specification enhances the car’s desirability and will help grow Rio sales in 2018 and beyond, thanks to its range of comfort and safety features, superb versatility, and confident, sporty styling
The new Kia GT-Line will go on sale in the UK in the spring following a debut at the Geneva Motor Show.
