Lamborghini arrived as a maker of exotic supercars in 1963 to take on Ferrari since which, despite a long list of owners and financial ups and downs, Lamborghini has continued to use Pirelli rubber for their cars.
The Pirelli Aventador doesn’t get any more power or performance, but with 691bhp on tap from the Aventador’s V12 engine that’s not exactly a problem.
But what you do get is cosmetic tweaks, with the Pirelli Aventador available in a two-tone colour scheme with two options.
The first option gives you matt black for the roof, pillars, mirrors, engine cover and the air intakes and a choice of gloss Giallo Spica, Rosso Mars, Bianco Isis, Nero Aldebaran, Grigio Liqueo, or Grigio Ater for the rest of the exterior.
The second option reverses the matt and gloss, with gloss black for the upper parts of the car and air intakes and a choice of matt Bianco Canopus, Nero Nemesis, Grigio Adamas, or Grigio Titans for the rest.
There are also thin red stripes running along the roof (mirrored on the Alcantara finish on the interior), Pirelli badges and a Pirelli plaque on the interior.
Deliveries of the Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4 Pirelli Edition – as a coupe or Roadster – will start in summer 2015, and although Lamborghini hasn’t revealed a price you can expect it to be somewhat more than the £260,000 list price of the Coupe or £289,000 for the Roadster.
