Lamborghini Huracan LP580-2 is a rear-wheel-drive driver’s DELIGHT
The Lamborghini Huracan LP580-2 has been revealed ahead of a Los Angeles Motor Show debut as a lighter, cheaper RWD take on the Huracan.
The Lamborghini Huracan LP580-2 – revealed ahead of a Los Angeles debut – is the Huracan every keen supercar driver will want, with its focus on creating an exciting drive and, despite a small drop in performance, promising to be a really desirable supercar.Lamborghini has dumped the Huracan’s four-wheel-drive setup and replaced it with a rear-wheel-drive one, in the process making the Huracan lighter and more nimble, and they’ve dialled-in proper oversteering characteristics for a more scintillating experience, as well as stiffer springs and anti-roll bars on double wishbones.
The power in the LP580-2 may have dropped a bit to 572bhp, but it’s only made 0.2 seconds difference to the 0-62mph time – a swift 3.4 seconds – and that’s probably down to grip more than power.
If you care, the LP580-2 gets cylinder deactivation which helps with emissions, although at 278g/km you won’t be getting any tax breaks.
There are a few visual tweaks – although you’ll need to look hard – with new air intakes at the front and bit of restyling at the back, and a set of 19″ alloys with Pirelli PZero tyres.
It all adds up to a Huracan that is probably far more appealing than the mainstream Huracan, and with a price that looks set to be under £150,000 it’ something of a steal.
