Lamborghini TEASE new Supercar
Lamborghini has delivered a tease photo of a new supercar on Instagram, which looks likely to be their first hybrid supercar heading for a Frankfurt debut.
Lamborghini is making hay with the Urus SUV, but the Urus’ success is based on the reputation built over the last 50-odd years of delivering mouth-watering supercars. But Lamborghini’s supercar offerings – the Huracan and Aventador – aren’t exactly in the first flush, with the Huracan now four years old and the Aventador twice that. So we could do with a new Lamborghini supercar to keep the reputation intact.
Whether this tease photo for a new Lamborghini (above) is for a properly new car or, following the lead set by Stephan Winkelmann when he was in charge, a titivation of an Aventador at a properly silly price, we don’t know.
In fact, there’s another option, in that it could be an update of the Terzo Millennio Concept we saw in 2017 as a look at the future of Lamborghini supercar, as the nose on this tease does look rather like that concept.
But it’s expected that the new Lambo will be a plug-in hybrid previewing the next generation Aventador, still using Lamborghini’s V12 but adding an electric motor at the front, perhaps even powered by supercapacitors rather than batteries – just like the Terzo Millennio.
No doubt, with a couple of weeks to go until Frankfurt, we’ll learn more as Lamborghini develop their tease.
