Lamborghini Terzo Millennio Concept
The Lamborghini Terzo Millennio Concept has been revealed as a look at the future of Lamborghini, in partnership with Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
When Lamborghini revealed a tease photo last week for a new concept, we thought the most likely outcome would be a look at Lamborghini’s production intent for a hybrid Huracan. But it’s not.Instead, it’s a bonkers look at where Lamborghini see the future of their supercars – and has been developed in partnership with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). It’s called the Lamborghini Terzo Millennio Concept .
The Terzo Millennio (it means third millennium) is the result of a year-long collaboration with MIT to rewrite supercar rules in a new world of autonomous driving and electric motors. And it’s suitably Lamborghini bonkers.
The Terzo Millennio has Supercapacitors instead of batteries, which theoretically give a much greater power output than batteries (although they currently have low density), power which goes to electric motors – one on each wheel.
The extreme design – with freedom the lack of an engine delivers – is made of carbon fibre which, say Lamborghini, is self-healing and will somehow accumulate energy in use to boost power.
The Terzo Millennio will also take you on an autonomous massive track blat so you know what is possible, and then guide you to do the same.
It’s all the stuff of fantasy, but Lamborghini clearly hopes its partnership with MIT will, eventually, deliver its wish list for future supercars.
