Lexus LF-C2 at LA – it’s an OTT take on an RC Convertible

The Lexus LF-C2 concept has been teased for the last few weeks as a Lexus concept heading for the Los Angeles Auto Show, and looked like it was going to be a preview of a Lexus RC Convertible. Now it’s arrived it still does, although the LF-C2 is a future RC Convertible with knobs on.
For example, the LF-C2 has no roof at all, the paintwork is an expensive mult-layered paint process with primer, silver, clear coat and then yellow to create a striking hue, the Spindle Grill at the front is taken to another level and the huge alloys look almost cartoon-like.
The back end looks a bit fussy – and its quad pipes suggest it’s an RC V8 under the bonnet – with a rear diffuser and bulges on the boot running down from the rear seats.
Inside is about the future too, with a full-length centre console, a lack of switchgear, instruments that look like they’re inspired by the LFA, a multimedia touchpad, Infotaiunment screen, touchpads on the steering wheel and a mountain of grey and white leather.
But take away the design ‘statements’, and it’s easy to see a future Lexus RC Convertible.
