Lotus has released details of a special edition Elise – the Lotus Elise Club Racer – which will be revealed at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
Lotus has been focusing on the Louts Evora of late, and recently delivered the first customer car. But the Elise has been the bedrock of Lotus for a decade, so just so it doesn’t feel left out, Lotus has decided to titivate the Elise and launch a special edition – the Lotus Elise Club Racer.
The Elise Club Racer is based on the entry level Elise, which endows it with Toyota’s 1.8 litre engine and five-speed ‘box, delivering 0-60 mph in 5.7 seconds and a top speed of 127 mph, and manages to average 37.2 mpg.
Lotus has utilised its historic colours to pretty-up the Club Racer, so you get a choice of Elite Yellow, Carbon Grey, Sky Blue and Old English White for tha paint job – all 1960s Lotus colours. The exterior body colour is carried over to the interior, where the transmission tunnel colour mirrors the exterior together with silver and black highlights.
The interior gets a splash of ‘CR’ logos, together with microfibre cushioning on the seats, black leather steering wheel and anthracite-coloured anodised aluminium flooring in the footwells. The Elise Club Racer also gets a set of six-spoke alloys in anodised anthracite to tie in with the interior.
The Elise Club Racer will be on show at the Frankfurt Motor Show and be on sale in the UK at £26,662 from 15th September.
