In many ways the Geneva Motor Show is a proper launch for the Lotus Evora. Yes, the car has been shown, and Lotus in London actually had an Evora in their showroom in January for a while. But the Evora wasn’t ready to roll at that point, but now its is. And anyway, Lotus are calling the first 450 cars ‘The Launch Edition’, so it’s fitting it comes under ‘Geneva Reveals’!
The first four (ish) seater Lotus in a generation, the Evora is powered by a 3.5 litre V6, which manages to produce 276bhp and 252ft/lbs of torque. The Toyota sourced engine manages a 0-60 of around 5 seconds, and on to a top speed of 160mph. And the Evora does a pretty decent job with emissions and economy, especially considering its performance. It returns a creditable 32mpg and has Co2 emissions of 205g/km.
The Launch edition features a reversing camera, upgraded sound system, bi-xenons and some decent alloys. The standard colours for the Lotus Evora Launch Edition are either Ardent Red or British Racing Green, but you can have any colour you like from the Lotus range – but it will cost you an extra £1,000 to £2,700 depending on the paint you choose!
Lotus are calling the new Evora ‘The World’s only 2+2 mid-engined car’. But actually, as standard, it comes as a 2-seater. You’ll have to pay and extra £2375 to get the back seats instead of a big parcel shelf/storage area. But that’s being picky. The Evora is well-priced for the performance it offers, at under £50k even with the extra seats, which will please the long witing list of high-profile customers for the Evora.
Production of the Evora has now started, and the first customer cars will be delivered in May.

The Lotus Evora is Brilliant!!
British engineering at its best. A real UK Car maker, even if it has a Toyota engine!
