McLaren F1 joins EXHIBITION to celebrate designer Gordon Murray’s 50-year career
Car designer Gordon Murray, probably best-known for the McLaren F1, is honoured with an exhibition in Dunsfold to mark his 50-year design career.
Gordon Murray will always be best known for designing the McLaren F1 Supercar, but his 50-year career hasn’t just been about McLaren Supercars. Far from it.In fact, in recent years, Murray has been far more interested in sustainable transport and City Cars than anything else, but in between those two extremes come a plethora of game-changing designs.
Now, to honour Murray and celebrate his 50-year career, there’s to be an exhibition showcasing more than 40 of Murray’s creations over the years at a new facility in Dunsfold which will, once the exhibition is done and dusted, be the new Gordon Murray Design Automotive Centre.
The exhibition will have almost every car Murray has designed, including the McLaren LM, a Le Mans-winning F1 GTR, the McLaren MP4/4, Brabham BMW BT52 World Championship car and the GVT OX.
The exhibition will run for a week from Friday 3 November 2017, and Murray is promising the announcement of an all-new, ground-breaking car on that day.
Gordon Murray said:
It will be a very proud and emotional day to see all these cars brought together, as they chart my professional life, as well as my perspective over the decades on complex challenges in vehicle design and engineering.
Making this event happen presents a huge logistical challenge, as many of the vehicles are in private collections and distributed all around the world.
I am hugely appreciative of the generosity of those owners in granting us temporary custodianship of their cars for this unique event.
To see the exhibition you’ll need to get an invite (no, we haven’t got one yet), but the whole exhibition is available to view online at the Gordon Murray Design website after the exhibition has been appreciated by the lucky invitees.
