The new Mercedes-AMG CLA 35 arrives as Mercedes adds a third model to the new AMG 35 range of entry-level AMG A-Class.
Yesterday we had a tease for the new Mercedes-AMG CLA 35 ahead of its debut at the New York Motor Show, and today we get the reveal. Perhaps even Mercedes were struggling to find another way to tease a car which holds no surprises?
The AMG CLA 35 is the third outing for Mercedes’ new ‘AMG Light’ models in the A-Class range, following on from 35 versions of both the new A-Class Hatch and A-Class Saloon, and offer the same package of power and cosmetic titivations as its siblings.
That means a 2.0 litre turbo under the bonnet good for 302bhp, with the power going to all four wheels through a 4MATIC seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox, all adding up to a 0-62mph in 4.9 seconds.
To go with the power boost comes a stopping boost with bigger brakes, a set of 18″ alloys, an AMG bodykit to give sportier bumpers and sills, rear diffuser and a bootlid spoiler.
Inside it’s all familiar too, with Mercedes’ big new MBUX infotainment , leather and microfibre trim on the sports seats, red seat belts, a flat-bottomed AMG steering wheel, 360 camera and customisable ambient lighting to suit your mood.
The new Mercedes-AMG CLA 35 gets its official reveal at the New York Motor Show this month, going on sale in the UK later in the summer. Expect prices for the new CLA 35 to edge up towards £40k.
