The Mercedes GLB – Mercedes’ new compact ‘baby’ G-Wagen – gets a final video tease ahead of a reveal in the US later today.
The Mercedes GLB has been on the way as a compact SUV, with looks inspired by the iconic G-Wagen, for quite some time, and it’s production reveal is due today.
Of course, we’ve already seen the GLB in concept guise at the Shangai Motor Show in April, but we’re assuming that reveal had more than a dose of ‘concept’ frippery – including roof-mounted lights and off-road wheels and tyres – so the production GLB will be more of a toned-down version.
Ahead of a reveal expected later today in Utah, Mercedes has delivered a final video tease (below) of their butch new baby SUV, although we’re not entirely sure it reveals much with its mirrored screen shots and long-distance panning.
But there are no roof-mounted lights on display, there are a pair of stylised exhausts at the back and the interior, what little we see, looks to have borrowed heavily from the current crop of Mercedes A-Class models.
Under the skin of the new GLB sits the same platform as the rest of the – seemingly ever-expanding – A-Class range, despite which it seems Mercedes has found enough room to give the GLB three rows of seats, and you can expect the usual range of Mercedes engines, four-wheel drive options and, it’s expected, and electric version at some point.
All will be revealed later today.
