The Mercedes S-Class Coupe has been officially revealed ahead of a Geneva Motor Show debut next month as a striking take on a 2-door S-Class.

We has high expectations for the replacement for the Mercedes CL after Mercedes revealed the S-Class Coupe Concept at the Frankfurt Motor Show last year. And now the proper production version of the 2014 Mercedes S-Class Coupe has been revealed ahead of its debut at Geneva next month.
The only engine option to be revealed at Geneva will be the S500 Coupe with the 4.7 litre V8 petrol which gest 448bhp and 516lb/ft of torque. That should be enough to get the S500 Coupe to 62mph well under 5 seconds and the option – for the UK too we expect – of 4MATIC 4WD will help get its power down.
The S-Class Coupe will get all the clever technology the new S-Class boasts, but it will also get an evolution of the Magic Body Control with a curve tilting function that allows the S-Class Coupe to lean in to bends and promises a more pleasant drive as a result.
The curve tilting function works by using a camera that detects corners and works with a transverse acceleration sensor to then modify the air suspension’s dampers and incline the body by up to 2.5 degrees.
Show-off stuff includes the option of headlights with 47 Swarovski Crystals to form flare-shaped running lights and adorn the indicators.
The interior of the S-Class Coupe is clearly taken from the S-Class saloon, but it gets stuff like a new ‘Super Sport’ steering wheel with galvanised spokes, individual rear seats, the option of designo nappa leather with diamond backstitching, automatic seat belt extenders and new interior colours like Bengal red, saddle brown and porcelain.
The new Mercedes S-Class Coupe will debut at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show and is expected to go on sale in the summer. Initially we’ll get the S500 Coupe, although the S63 AMG Coupe won’t be far behind (if at all) and there will doubtless be a range-topping, ridiculously expensive, S65 AMG Coupe too in due course.
On the face of it, the new S-Class Coupe should provide much stiffer competition for cars like the Bentley Continental GT.
