The 2012 Mercedes SLK - the tease begins
Mercedes has released a teaser image for the next generation SLK – the 2012 Mercededs SLK – showing the optional ‘Magic Sky Control’ roof
I know, it’s what all car maker now do; tease the launch of a new car. And we’re probably to be blame. No, not Cars UK specifically, but online Car Magazines in general. Until the rise and rise of the web the teaser would have been pointless, but now it’s de rigeur. Unfortunately.
So the 2011 / 2012 Mercedes SLK is imminent then? Er, no. In fact it could be more than a year before it turns up. But that small detail hasn’t stopped Mercedes from treating us all to the first teaser image in what will undobtedly be a long and drawn out reveal; ‘The Dance of the Seven Images’. Except it will probably be the seventy images.
This first teaser treats us to a view of the roof of the new SLK. But it’s not the bog-standard roof. This is the ‘Magic Sky Control’ roof, which will set you back at least a couple of grand when the SLK launches.
The ‘Magic Sky’ roof is controlled by electrically governed particles which can be adjusted to control the amount of light coming through the roof. Mercedes say this can be adjusted to keep UV and infra-red light out of the car, and can be used to filter up to 95%.
