New 2017 Nissan Micra teased ahead of Paris debut
An all new 2017 Nissan Micra is teased for a debut at the 2016 Paris Motor Show as Nissan aims to deliver on a new Micra customers will actually want.
Nissan has got so much right in recent years – not least the quiet revolution the Qashqai wrought on the car market – and yet it’s managed to make a bit of a mess of the current Micra.Arriving with much fanfare as a new Global Compact Car, the new Micra threw away Nissan’s hard-won reputation for the Micra as a well made, reliable, frugal and sensible small car, replacing it with a Micra which really wasn’t up to European standards and just felt cheap and unappealing.
A facelift in 2013, and a price cut in 2012, helped a bit, but what was needed is an all new Micra, something we got a preview of with last year’s Sway Concept. Well no the real deal is about to arrive.
Ahead of a Paris Motor Show debut, the all new 2017 Nissan Micra is teased with a couple of photos (above) and absolutely nothing else from Nissan (save for a brief video showing the front image above changing colour). But they do headline, as they have above, that “A Revolution is Coming”.
That revolution will be a new Micra which takes its styling cues from the good looking Sway concept, be underpinned by a new platform which will be shared by the next generation Juke, be better built, better looking, longer, wider and lower and come with a range of three and four cylinder engines ready to reclaim its birthright as an appealing buy once more.
There could even be a ‘hot’ Micra with up to 200bhp and a hybrid version, although neither are likely to arrive at Paris.
More will be revealed, no doubt, as Nissan extend the Micra tease ahead of its Paris debut.
