The new Audi TT RS – Coupe and Convertible – has been revealed at the Beijing Motor Show, sporting a 2.5 litre five-cylinder engine with 395bhp.
Audi has unveiled the second generation TT RS at the Beijing Motor Show – as a Coupe and Roadster – and it’s a proper little junior supercar with its aluminium block 2.5 litre five-cylinder engine delivering 395bhp, enough to get to 62mph in just 3.7 seconds. That makes the new regular TT RS getting on for half a second quicker than the old TT RS Plus, and a chunk quicker than the new Cayman S. In fact, it’s only 0.2s behind the £120k Audi R8.
Audi will be launching both the Coupe and Roadster versions of the new TT RS at the same time (the heavier Roadster is 0.2s slower than the coupe), and the car comes with suspension 10mm lower than the regular TT, stiffer springs and dampers and 19″ alloys.
The electronic diff remains and power is sent to all four wheels by a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox, and if you want to be a bit more extravagant you can option the RS Sports Suspension System with adaptive dampers.
Cosmetic changes for the RS include new bumpers, bigger sills, bigger air intakes, oval exhaust tips and a big spoiler at the back, with options including OLED tail lights with TT and Four Ring light motifs.
The new Audi TT RS is not expected to go on sale at Audi’s UK dealers until the Autumn (so we should probably call it the 20176 Audi TT RS) at prices yet to be revealed.
