BMW has revealed an updated version of the Competition Package for the M6 – Coupe, Gran Coupe and Convertible – with almost 600bhp on tap.
It’s an ongoing discussion at Cars UK Towers – which is better, the BMW M5 or BMW M6? The M5 should have the edge, but there’s plenty of opinion that the M6 Gran Coupe is just an altogether more interesting car. And it just got more interesting with the arrival of a new Competition Package.BMW has revealed what the latest M6 Competition Package will offer – not just for the Gran Coupe, but also for the regular Coupe and the Convertible – when it arrives in July, and in terms of power it gives the 6 Series M cars the same power as the 30 Jahre M5.
That means the M6 will get a 40bhp boost to 592bhp (and an extra 15lb/ft of torque), enough to get to 62mph in just 3.9 seconds and 124mph in 11.6s, and although it’s limited to 155mph you can extend it to 189mph by also opting for the M Driver’s Package.
Away from the appealing power boost, BMW has also given the M6 firmer springs, dampers and anti-roll bars, with the Active M Diff improving traction further, the Servotronic getting more direct mapping and the Dynamic Mode allowing more exuberance before it stops you playing.
Visually, the M6 Competition Package also delivers new 20″, double spoke, bi-colour M light alloys and black chrome tail pipes.
The new Competition Package for the M6 range won’t be available until July, and so far BMW hasn’t revealed any price details, but it’ll probably be more than the price of the upgrades on the current M6 – £5,500 – when they arrived in 2013.
