New Citroen 2CV – is that the Citroen Nouveau tease?

We have a new teaser image from Citroen on the Nouveau C3 theme – could this be the new Citroen 2CV, perhaps based on the C-Cactus Concept?

A couple of days ago we brought you a picture that had popped up on Facebook which showed a teaser image of a new Citroen that was supposedly going to show at Frankfurt – named as the Citroen Nouveau C3. And the picture was all we had, but now Citroen has issued a practically empty press release with the picture you see above attached. All it said was “Citroën hasn’t finished surprising you with its creativity…”

This image is of hardly more help than the one we’ve already seen. And Citroen are being absolutely no help at all. They’re obviously hoping for a bit of viral speculation – and they’re getting it.

Our best guess from the other day was a new super eco Citroen based on the C-Cactus concept we saw earlier this year. Which does fit in with the speculation that’s now running around that this will be the spiritual successor to the 2CV – the deux chevaux.

As with the picture the other day – the Citroen Nouveau C3 – we’ve run the image Citroen has sent through Photoshop. Not the best looking image in terms of quality, but it tells you a bit more than the image Citroen has released.

The styling is somewhat reminiscent of the 2CV with its rounded lines, and the ‘wheel at each corner’ look makes it quite distinctive.

Will this be Citroen’s Eco-C3. Who knows. We’re no wiser than the other day.
