New Ford Puma Crossover will be revealed on Wednesday
The new Ford Puma – a small Crossover ‘SUV – will debut on Wednesday 26 June as Ford reveal yet another SUV offering for the UK and Europe.
Back in April, Ford revealed the first photo of the new Ford Puma, a Puma that isn’t a sporty coupe take on the Fiesta but, as this is 2019, a Fiesta-based compact SUV / Crossover. The image Ford delivered with the announcement (above) wasn’t exactly detailed, hidden as it is with a laser light show, but then it doesn’t take too much of an imagination leap to visualise a jacked-up Fiesta with added butch.
It did seem likely the arrival of the Puma would signal the departure of the EcoSport, but it seems Ford can’t have too many SUVs, so the EcoSport will remain as the entry-level SUV for the UK.
Having visualised an SUV take on the Fiesta, you won’t have to stretch your imagination that far to work out what the Puma will look like on the inside. Take a look at the latest Fiesta and you’ll probably be pretty much there.
We already know the Puma will come with the option of a 153bhp mild hybrid powertrain, using Ford’s excellent 1.0 litre EcoBoost 3-pot mated to a 48V belt-driven starter motor generator to add oomph and economy, and no doubt a range of ICE only 1.0 litre Ecoboost options too.
All will be revealed on Wednesday.
