The new Jaguar XE – Jaguar’s smaller, BMW 3 Series competitor – was announced officially at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show and now we get the first proper tease.

Jaguar reveal a teaser image of the new XE
Jaguar’s new smaller car – effectively a replacement for the Mondeo-based X-Type – has been coming for what seems a very long time, but it was finally officially announced at the Geneva Motor Show in March.
Covered in a bizarre camouflage of add-on panels and white paint, the XE looks to have the proportions of the XF, just on a smaller scale.
The front end looks different to the image from Geneva, but that is probably down to the camouflage panels, and we expect the production version of the XE to have a nose that is similar to both that original image and the Jaguar SUV Concept, which will be built on the same platform as the XE.
Under the bonnet will be a range of Jaguar’s new 4-cylinder diesel and petrol engines, but there will also be something to take on the M3 with and XE R fitted with 3.0 litre supercharged engine from the F-Type which should be enough to push the XE R to 62mph in the mid 4 seconds.
With the Jaguar XE debuting at the Paris Motor Show in the Autumn – and arriving in Jaguar showrooms in the second quarter of 2015 – expect more detail and less camouflaged photos of the XE to arrive in the coming months.
