Prince Harry checks out the new Land Rover Defender
Jaguar Land Rover are sponsors of the Invictus Games, Prince Harry is the founder, so the two came together as Harry met the new Defender.
It’s been a busy week for Prince Harry, smiling from the pages of newspapers as he became a father for the firts time. But whether ‘er indoors was impressed or not, Harry still found time to go and do a bit of Invictus Games promo ahead of the 2020 games, and bumped in to the new Land Rover Defender as JLR continue their push to get as many eyeballs on the new Defender as possible ahead of a debut before the end of the year.
It gave us the chance to see the new Defender with new camouflage – which perhaps reveals more detail – although we’re hoping the Defender Land Rover had for Harry to peruse was a ‘lifestyle’ take, because the wheels and tyres look distinctly on-road posh rather than off-road able, and the lip under the front bumper looks likely to end up left behind in any serious terrain. If not the bumper itself too.
The promo for the Invictus Games comes exactly a year ahead of the 2020 games in the Netherlands in May 2020, and Land Rover say the competitors next year will be among the first to drive the new Land Rover.
Which rather suggests, despite the promise of a reveal for the new Defender this year, it’s going to be towards the end of 2020 before we actually see the new Defender rolling out of Land Rover’s dealers.
