New Range Rover Evoque is the SAFEST Land Rover so far
The new Range Rover Evoque has achieved a five star rating in the latest Euro NCAP tests, making it the safest Land Rover so far.
The new Range Rover Evoque arrived last year as Land Rover finally delivered the Mk 2 Evoque, but they firmly followed the Porsche school of design by making it look just like the original Evoque, albeit with a touch of Velar in the mix.But under the still very familiar exterior the new Evoque is much changed, and is now based on Land Rover’s new Premium Transverse Architecture which comes with stuff like Emergency Brake Assist, Lane Keep Assist, parking aids and rear view camera. And that’s had an impressive effect on its safety and its Euro NCAP rating.
Euro NCAP has put the new Evoque through its ever more stringent testing regime, and it’s come out with a five star rating and some particularly good scores on stuff like adult occupancy protection.
In the test the Evoque scored 94 per cent for adult occupancy safety (the best for any JLR model yet), and 87 per cent for child occupancy safety, 72 per cent for vulnerable road users and 73 per cent for safety assist.
Finbar McFall (great name), from JLR, said:
The Range Rover Evoque is at home in the city and the country, so we added the latest technologies aimed at preventing accidents and a new vehicle architecture to protect occupants in the event of an incident. The result is another five-star performer from Land Rover.
It’s a good result for the Evoque, although not quite up to the standard of the Volvo XC40.
