Suzuki’s latest entrant in to the compact SUV/Crossover market – the Suzuki SX4 S-Cross – goes on sale in the UK in October and will cost from £14,999.

The new Suzuki SX4 S-Cross arrived at the Geneva Motor Show in March following on from the concept version at the Paris Motor Show in 2012. And Suzuki are now ready to let it loose in the UK.
Just two engines are on offer in the SX4 S-Cross – a 1.6 litre petrol with 118bhp and a five speed ‘box as standard (CVT option) and a 1.6 litre diesel with 118bhp that comes only with a six-speed manual.
Both engines can be had in either a front wheel drive or with Suzuki’s new ALLGRIP 4WD system that comes with four modes – Auto, Sport, Snow, and Lock – and a choice of four trim levels, SZ3, SZ4, SZ-T and SZ5, all of which get ESP and seven airbags as standard.
The big option shout for the new SX4 S-Cross is a double panoramic roof which is over 3 feet long when closed and has an opening aperture of almost two feet, something Suzuki claim is a world first.
With prices from £14,999 for the S-Cross 1.6 Z3 manual and rising to £23,549 for the 1.6 DDiS SZ5 ALLGRIP Manual, the new S-Cross does have appeal.
Whether it will be enough to make a dent in Nissan’s Qashqai sales remains to be seen. But it deserves consideration.
