The facelifted 2016 Volkswagen Up! goes on sale in the UK with cosmetic tweaks, equipment updates and 89bhp 1.0 litre TSI. Prices from £8,995.
A facelift for the Volkswagen Up! City car was revealed back in February, with the refreshed VW getting its public debut at the Geneva Motor Show the following month. And now the 2016 VW Up! goes on sale in the UK with prices from £8,995 to £12,445.The usual cosmetic titivations you expect from a facelift are present and correct in the 2016 Up!, including new LED running lights, new bumpers and door mirrors, updated customisation and colour options, extra smartphone connectivity and new steering wheel.
Standard equipment now includes LED lights and remote locking across the range, with the range-topping High Up! getting grown-up car stuff like heated seats, bigger alloys and ambient lights.
The models range now encompasses an Up! Beats to add to the Take Up!, Move Up! and High Up! models (don’t you just hate VW’s stupid names?) with improved specs.
The Take Up! now gets a Composition Infotainment, remote locking, electric front windows and drivers seat height adjustment, which with prices starting at £8,995 – just £20 up on the previous model – seems a bit of a result for buyers.
Next up is the Move Up! which gets 15″ Fortaleza alloys, colour infotainment with Bluetooth and extra speakers and starts at £10,025, with the High Up! getting Calzone alloys, Nav, ambient lighting, multi-function steering wheel and prices from £11,580.
Under the bonnet the big news is the arrival of an 89bhp 1.0 litre TSI, which promises decent performance – 0-62mph in 10 seconds) and official economy of 64.2mpg.
The 2016 VW Up! goes on sale today (21 July 2016) at VW’s UK dealers, but you won’t be able to order an Up! with the new 89bhp 1.0 TSI until August for some reason.
