New Volkswagen Passat BlueMotion cuts emissions to just 95g/km
Volkswagen’s latest 2015 Passat BlueMotion comes with a tweaked 1.6 litre diesel that cuts emissions to just 95g/km, with official economy of 76.3mpg.
The time must come when governments stop rewarding car makers for achieving economy and emissions that just don’t happen in the real world, but for now there’s a big benefit – especially for business users – in having a car with low emissions – so step forward VW’s latest offering, the 2015 VW Passat BlueMotion, to offer an appealing option. The Passat may not be the most exciting car in VW’s range, but it’s a good option as a business workhorse, and the new BlueMotion is even more appealing when you’re looking to keep your BIK costs in check.
VW has modified their 1.6 litre TDI with 118bhp to deliver official emissions and economy of 76.3mpg and 95g/km, which is almost enough to pip the Mondeo Econetic – but not quite.
Looking exactly like the regular Passat S – inside and out – apart from a bit of BlueMotion badging, the Eco Passat comes with the same equipment levels as the regular model including Driver alert, Post-Collision Braking and Stop-Start, but nit also gets aerodynamic tweaks (which actually makes it slightly faster than the regular model), low rolling resistance tyres and 17″ alloys.
You can grab a new Passat Bluemotion for £23,200 (or the Estate for £24,750) with first customer cars due in VW’s UK showrooms in August.

Passat Bluemotion with 188bhp? I think not. Maybe 188lb ft of torque?
Cars UK says
You’re absolutely right it’s not 188bhp! In fact, the Passat BlueMotion has just 118bhp – it was a typo!
