2019 Volkswagen Touareg V6 Petrol
The new Volkswagen Touareg SUV can now be had in the UK with a 335bhp V6 petrol engine, adding to the current range of diesel engines.
We’ve had the usual VW diesel engine options on the new Touareg since it went on sale in the UK last summer, and VW recently had a bit of a brainstorm and delivered a V8 Touareg Diesel too.But with diesel no longer the nation’s number one choice for cars, Volkswagen has decided it’s time to offer the Touarag with a petrol option, so say hello to the new range-topping Touareg with a 335bhp V6 petrol.
The V6 petrol sends its 335bhp to all four wheels in the Touareg, with VW claiming it will get to 62mph in 5.9 seconds on its way to a limited 155mph, and even gets a limited slip diff to keep it sharp on road.
The V6 petrol’s 332lb/ft of torque is still enough to deliver the same 3,500 kg towing weight the diesels have, and the fact the petrol is 50kg lighter than the diesel helps too, and, say VW, means you’ll get 31.7mpg (you won’t).
Prices for the entry-level version of the petrol Touareg – the Touareg SEL 3.0 V6 TSI 340 PS – start at £52,635, topping out at £59,235 for the Touareg R-Line Tech 3.0 V6 TSI 340 PS, with the mid-priced R-Line costing £56,135.
Order books for the new petrol Touareg are now open in the UK, with first deliveries in April.
