Volkswagen Touareg V8 TDI
The Volkswagen Touareg V8 TDI is heading for the Geneva Motor Show as VW turn back to big diesel power for their Touareg SUV.
If you drive a diesel car, and are upset at the ever rising costs of driving a diesel, and the ever increasing disapprobation it engenders, you can thank Volkswagen. Its dieselgate shenanigans has turned diesel dominance on its head, and car buyers are now so confused by claims of deadly diesel and increasing taxation on the Devil’s fuel they’re flocking off to small petrol and AFVs instead.
So what to make of VW’s latest offering, the Volkswagen Touareg V8 TDI, heading for Geneva with a thumping great 4.0 litre V8 diesel under the bonnet? Irony? Bravado? Snook cocking? Or just a sensible offering?
Wherever your thoughts lie on why Volkswagen has decided now is the time to offer a 4.0 litre V8 diesel with 419bhp and 664lb/ft of torque, there’s no doubt it’s an impressive SUV, with enormous amounts of twisty stuff making it hugely appealing, as will the ability to take the big VW to 62mph in 4.9 seconds.
You get plenty of kit to make driving your oil burning SUV a pleasure, including 19″ alloys, air suspension, electric tailgate, leather, wood and aluminium trim and lots of safety technology.
Form an orderly queue.
