Volvo has added to the facelifted 2010 C30 range with the C30 1.6D DRIVe announced at Frankfurt today.
We’ve had the launch of the latest version of the Volvo C30, and we’ve also seen Volvo announce the C30 R-Design. So all the at was missing was the ‘Eco’ version, and here it is – the New Volvo C30 1.6D DRIVe announced today at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
Unlike the regular and R-Design there is no sports chassis on the C30 DRIVe, but it does get a few changes to achieve its ‘DRIVe’ status. The 1.6 litre diesel gets equipped with stop start and Volvo has had a play with the ECU and combustion management. The result of these changes manages to drop emissions on the C30 DRIVe down to – wait for it – 99g/km. You’d never have guessed.
Economy is, as you would expect, a strong card on the C30, with 74.3mpg giving a theoretical range of over 850mpg. Other changes to the C30 DRIVe mirror those across the facelifted C30 range, with the new front end making the C30 look pretty fresh, even if the back end is still an acquired taste.
The C30 1.6D DRIVe will be available to order from October.
