The new Volvo S90 teased ahead of its Detroit debut
The new Volvo S90 – Volvo’s new range-topping car and replacement for the S80 – will debut at the 2016 Detroit Motor Show in January.
The new Volvo XC90 has already proven that Volvo can plough its own furrow in the premium market and still produce a winning car, and the next instalment in that quest is to replace the ageing S80 with a new model – the Volvo S90.The new Volvo S90 will take on cars like the BMW 5 Series, Mercedes E Class and Jaguar XF, and will also spawn a V90 Estate, an S90 Long wheelbase and a V90 Cross Country. And the S90, at least, will debut at the 2016 Detroit Motor Show in January.
Volvo confirmed the debut in a press release about their collaboration with Microsoft on creating a new experience for buyers. with holograms using HoloLens technology to create holograms for an immersive experience for the buyer, and those in attendance were able to experience elements of the new S90 with the mixed reality device ahead of its launch.
Although very few got the experience, it we already know a fair bit about the new S90 and V90, with Volvo admitting the V90 will look very like the Estate Concept and the reveal of a scale model of the V90 recently.
If the S90 and V90 do retain the looks of the concept. and move on the interior in the way the XC90 has, Volvo could have a real hit on their hands.
And with a debut due in January, it shouldn’t be long before we get the first look at the production car.
