New Volvo XC60 is the SAFEST car of 2017 in latest Euro NCAP tests
The new Volvo XC60 SUV has ‘Aced’ the latest Euro NCAP tests, scoring a five star rating and 40 per cent above average on Safety Assist.
Two years ago the then new Volvo XC90 achieved scores in Euro NCAP testing never seen before. And now its baby brother – the new Volvo XC60 – has done the same.In the latest rounds of NCAP testing at Thatcham research, the new XC60 ‘aced’ the tests, according to Matthew Avery, Thatcham’s Director of Research, achieving a five star rating and setting a benchmark for all other cars.
Avery said the XC60’s adult occupant protection is one of the best on record, but that the active safety systems on the car were where the most impressive results came.
In fact, at 95 per cent, the XC60’s Safety Assist Score was 40 per cent better than the average of cars tested, and Thatcham couldn’t even test Volvo’s Turn Across Path and Run Off Roads Systems as they’re not included in NCAP testing yet. That’s how far ahead Volvo are with the XC60.
Other cars tested in this batch of Euro NCAP tests included the Citroen C3 Aircross, Vauxhall Crossland X, VW T-Roc, Skoda Karoq and Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross, all of which received five stars, but were eclipsed by the XC60’s performance.
